Partner Dan Smogor Recognized for Community Service

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Daniel Smogor, CPA, CGMA, will be one of two Indiana CPAs presented with a 2019 Indiana CPA Society (INCPAS) Community Service Award. An accounting professional in the South Bend area for over 30 years, Smogor is a partner at Kruggel Lawton CPAs.

The Society’s annual awards recognize CPAs with active licenses in good standing who have demonstrated excellence in serving the profession, company, community and public interest. The Community Service Award was established in 1994 to recognize long-time outstanding service to the community, CPA profession and/or Society.

Throughout his career, Smogor has given generously of his time, talent, and financial resources to benefit others. Early on, this included coaching middle school basketball and football. He has also served on INCPAS committees and presented at numerous seminars and workshops, mostly focused on his professional focus area of tax.

Smogor has served in leadership and/or governance roles in several community organizations. These currently include, or have included: Downtown South Bend Inc., The Summit Club (South Bend), The Studebaker National Museum, South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce, Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and Leadership South Bend/Mishawaka. In addition to his own philanthropic efforts, Smogor actively supports and encourages his colleagues at Kruggel Lawton to get involved in their communities.

Winners for all award categories will be honored at the CPA Celebration at the Indiana Roof Ballroom on May 10, 2019.
