Meet the 2019 Kruggel Lawton Interns

Interns at Kruggel Lawton play a key role every year but especially during busy season. This year is no exception as we have a talented bunch of men and women making it easier to get through all those 1040s before the April 15 deadline.

Nicole Hanlon graduated in May 2018 from Grace College in Winona Lake, IN where she majored in Accounting and minored in Spanish. She is the only daughter in her family with four brothers and also has one niece and one nephew. Nicole is more travelled than most adults twice her age. She’s traveled to the lower 48 states and four continents. She has visited three continents this year already and plans to visit the remaining four continents before the end of the year. Her most recent trip was to Australia, where she was able to pet and feed kangaroos and wallabies and hold a koala. She’s planning to live in Spain for five months this summer but is most excited for her trip this fall to South America and Antarctica. She also plays the violin and enjoys all water sports. Nicole loves her coworkers at Kruggel Lawton and enjoys participating in their frequent and lively discussions.

Emily Hawkins will graduate from Western Michigan University in December 2019 with her B.A. degree in Business Administration with a major in Accountancy and a minor in General Business. After that she will be planning a wedding for September 2020 with her fiancée Brady York. Together they have a two-year-old golden retriever named Rizzo. They love to vacation in Petoskey, MI. Among other traits, Emily’s eyes change color depending on the weather and her mood and she can talk like Donald Duck on a whim. What does she like best about being an intern at Kruggel Lawton? Their new office in St. Joe and having Nerf gun fights!

Olivia Kauffman graduated from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI in December 2018 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. As the youngest of five girls who all live in different states, she loves to vacation in Florida. Her favorite thing about working as an intern at the firm is that everyone is so polite and willing to help when she has a question. She doesn’t feel like “just an intern” but feels like her time and work are valued.

Isaac Longenecker is finishing up his senior year at Goshen College where he is studying Accounting and Sustainability Management. He has two older brothers and they grew up together in Grayslake, IL. Isaac enjoys travelling, especially when his family traveled to Puerto Rico in 2015. Exploring El Yunque National Park, climbing up streams and finding waterfalls is one of his favorite travel experiences. He can play the piano but has a desire to learn to play Banjo too. Isaac enjoys working at a firm with so much growth and the people who have invested their time into training and supporting him in learning a wide variety of tasks.

Shanna Miller is a senior at Indiana University South Bend and will graduate with a B.S. in Business with a concentration in Accounting. As an intern, she enjoys learning something new practically every day. She also enjoys seeing how things from class translate into real world accounting here at Kruggel Lawton, PLUS, there’s candy around somewhere whenever she needs it! Shanna loves her rescue dog, Franklin, and looks forward to their trip to her aunt’s lake cottage every summer in Wisconsin where it’s very relaxing and he bakes himself on the end of the pier.

Jenna Roth is attending Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN and will be graduating December 2020 with a degree in Accounting. Jenna is from Grabill, IN and has one older sister. Her favorite vacation destination was a trip to Banff National Park in Canada. Jenna recently completed a cake decorating class and would someday like to decorate cakes for people as her side hustle. Her favorite thing about working at Kruggel Lawton this year is to be in the field with KLients and meeting new people.

Lucas Vervynckt is finishing up his last credits through his internship with the firm and will graduate with a B.A. in Accounting from Grace College and Theological Seminary as a third year senior. He grew up on a farm in Plymouth, IN with four brothers and three sisters. He also has nine nieces and nephews. Lucas enjoys everything to do with being outdoors and especially the ports of Jamaica, Haiti and Cozumel he visited recently while on a Caribbean cruise. His favorite thing about being an intern at the firm is his close-knit coworkers and the support they show him every day.
