Brian Hake Recognized in Moody on the Market 40 Under 40

Kruggel Lawton is pleased to announce that Manager Brian Hake, CPA, has been selected as one of the Moody on the Market 40 Under 40 for 2019. Now in just its second year, the program is reserved exclusively for 40 of southwest Michigan's professionals under the age of 40.

Brian started as an intern with Kruggel Lawton back in 2008 (the firm was Schaffer & Layher at the time). As an intern he gained experience in a wide variety of services for KLients, as well as assisted at the front office. Since then he has risen in the ranks from staff accountant, to senior staff, and was most recently promoted to a manager role in 2018. In January 2010 he successfully completed requirements to become a certified public accountant, joining the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of CPAs.

Brian’s areas of service to KLients include consulting on various business accounting matters - including bookkeeping and QuickBooks software management; individual, corporate, partnership, estate/trust, and property tax planning and preparation; planning and performing audits of local units of government, privately held companies, and nonprofit entities.

While his roles in the firm have changed, one thing that has not is Brian’s willingness to be a true team player. He has always shown an interest in doing whatever he can do to help support his fellow team members and his KLients.

"We have enjoyed seeing Brian in his new role as a manager and mentor to younger staff members," said Partner Dave Schaffer. "He is a natural leader with qualities that are hard to find in today’s business world. He is an excellent listener, patient, has an upbeat attitude, and genuinely wants to help others succeed."

Brian lends his time and talents to his community by serving as treasurer on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berrien & Cass, as well as being a member of the Southwest Michigan Estate Planning Council. Brian is an avid pickleball player. He has joined a group of fellow pickleball enthusiasts to organize games and tournaments in the hopes that others in the community will join them.
And finally, as a young professional, Brian regularly attends Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber YP events.

Brian received Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Finance from the University of Dayton, Ohio. His professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of CPAs.

The 2019 Class of Moody on the Market 40 Under 40 will be recognized at a cocktail reception being held in their honor in early August. For the full list of honorees, visit www.moodyonthemarket.com/40under40/. Brian was interviewed as part of his recognition  - you can read that here.
