Deadline to electronically file information returns (Forms 1098/1099/W-2G) with the IRS. Paper file deadline was January 31, 2018. Form 1099-MISC without a Box 7 amount should also be filed electronically on this date.

Tax Deadlines for Nonprofits and Indiana Property Owners

Deadline for nonprofit organizations to file information returns (Form 990) for the year 2017. NOTE: The IRS will automatically grant a 6-month extension for 990 filings, upon timely submission of such request.  Accordingly, for organizations with a calendar fiscal year that seek such extension by the initial due date of May 15, their filing deadline will effectively change to November 15. Form 5500 - If you maintain an employee benefit plan, such as a pension, profit-sharing, or stock bonus plan, file Form 5500 or Form 5500-SF for calendar year 2017. If you use a fiscal year as your plan year, file the form by the last day of the seventh month after the plan's year end. The maximum extension period for Form 5500 and Form 5500SF is 2.5 months (or October 15 for calendar-year plans).

September 17

3rd quarter estimated tax payments due for the 2018 tax year (individuals and calendar-year corporations). Final deadline to file calendar year-end corporate tax returns for the year 2017 if an extension was requested (Forms 1120, 1120S). June 30 year-end C corporations corporate tax due. If applying for an extension, you will receive a seven-month extension (due April 15, 2019). Final deadline to file partnership tax returns (Form 1065) for the year 2017 if an extension was requested.

Final Individual Tax Deadlines

Final deadline to file 2017 individual tax returns (with extension) - (Forms 1040, 1040EZ). Last day the IRS will accept an electronically filed tax return for the year 2017. If filing after October 15, you'll need to mail in your tax return for processing. Final deadline for calendar-year Benefit Plans (with an extension) to file Form 5500. Final deadline to fund a SEP-IRA or solo 401(k) for tax year 2017 if you requested an automatic extension of time to file.
