Steve has more than 25 years of retirement plan experience, 17 of those were spent with a national CPA firm. This includes auditing qualified retirement plans, annual record-keeping for defined contribution plans, and technical consulting related to defined contribution plans.
EXPERIENCE
- Managing and reviewing audits of qualified retirement plans including defined benefit plans, 403(b) plans, 401(k) profit sharing plans, employee stock ownership plans, health and welfare plans, and qualified plans required to file with the SEC
- Preparation and review of Form 5500 for retirement and welfare benefit plans
- Managing the evaluation process of SSAE 16 reports used for audits of qualified retirement plans
- Prepared and presented course material for training on auditing qualified retirement plans
- Researching technical issues related to qualified retirement plans
- Performing risk compliance audits for trust departments managing retirement plan assets
- Performing and reviewing allocations of defined contribution plans and performing antidiscrimination tests for defined contribution plans
- Drafting and amending prototype plan documents and summary plan descriptions

INTERESTS
Steve and his wife enjoy helping coach their two children in baseball, basketball, soccer, football, 4-H projects, and Kids Club at Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren. A fishing trip or a family vacation provides some relaxation. Steve’s passion is watching his children succeed.
