(South Bend/Elkhart) Kruggel, Lawton & Company, LLC CPAs is pleased to announce that Crystal Collier has passed all parts of the CPA exam and has been licensed as a certified professional accountant.
Collier is involved in tax planning and consulting engagements with a primary focus on corporation and individual tax preparation. She also performs audits and reviews for companies in a variety of industries including manufacturing, service providing, and wholesale distributors. Her areas of service and consulting include:

Collier is a graduate of Goshen College where she received a BA degree in accounting with a minor in business. (South Bend) Chief Operating Partner Kevin G. Kruggel, CPA recently returned from a visit to Capitol Hill to meet with members of congress on behalf of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

As part of a select group of nine Indiana CPAs, Mr. Kruggel recently attended the 2009 AICPA Spring Meeting of Council in Washington, D.C. As part of the meeting, the Indiana CPA delegation visited the offices of key elected officials from our state to discuss the AICPA recommendations related to financial services industry re-regulation, tax strategy patents, mobile workforce and how CPAs are set up to assist America through this economic crisis.

The AICPA is a national professional association representing more than 350,000 CPAs in public practice, industry, education and government. The Indiana CPA Society is a professional association representing more than 7,000 Indiana CPAs in public practice, industry, government and education.

Kruggel, Lawton & Company Adds Three New Staff Members

(Elkhart) Kruggel, Lawton & Company, LLC CPAs is pleased to announce the following staff additions:

Trevor Kropf – Trevor returned to Kruggel, Lawton & Co. Elkhart office as a full-time staff accountant after completing an internship in the spring of 2008. Trevor graduated in 2007 from Indiana University South Bend where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He completed an internship with Kruggel, Lawton & Co. and worked in private industry before returning to Kruggel, Lawton where he will concentrate his efforts in assurance and tax services. Trevor is a Goshen native and still lives in the community.

Sara Oszuscik joins Kruggel, Lawton & Co. as a staff accountant. Sara graduated from Manchester College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance and has accumulated the required hours to sit for the CPA exam. She will concentrate her efforts on assurance services for clients representing a variety of industries. She is a native of Plymouth and still resides in the community.

Linda Wells joins Kruggel, Lawton & Co. in a business support role. She will assist with front desk, processing and other business support roles in the office. She has over 20 years of administrative experience with an administrative associate degree from Indiana Business College. Linda resides in Nappanee.

Rita Miller joined Kruggel, Lawton & Company in 2005. Since that time, she has worked on tax issues involving organizations in the medical professional services, manufacturing, retail, and real estate industries among others. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.

Brandelyn Rodriguez joined Kruggel, Lawton & Company in 2005 and has worked in the assurance area of the accounting practice. Her specialties include industries in the manufacturing, wholesale/distribution, not-for-profit, and construction industries. She is a native of Walkerton, Indiana and graduated from Indiana University South Bend.

Leslie Bauer joined Kruggel, Lawton & Company's South Bend office in 2007 after working for another public accounting firm for several years. She works on various tax services as well as audit, review, and compilation engagements in a variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, wholesale distribution, and service. She also has experience conducting employee benefit plan audits. Bauer is a graduate of LaSalle High School and Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN.

Tony Gillisse, CPA - Tony joined Kruggel, Lawton & Co. as an Audit Manager in our South Bend office. He has over eight years of experience in public accounting performing assurance, tax, and consulting work for a variety of closely-held companies. He graduated magna cum laude in accounting from Western Michigan University in 1999.

Lisa Wagler - Lisa joined Kruggel, Lawton & Co.'s South Bend office as part of the Small Business Group. She will assist clients with bookkeeping and other accounting services. She has an AD in business from IU South Bend and is currently working toward an accounting degree at IU South Bend.

Melanie DeGroff - Melanie joined Kruggel, Lawton & Company's Elkhart office and will concentrate her efforts in the areas of trust and estate planning. She has over six years of public accounting experience and a degree in Accounting from IU South Bend. She is originally from the Concord/Dunlap area and currently lives in Elkhart.

Shawn L. Mawhorter, CPA joined Kruggel, Lawton's Elkhart office as a Tax Manager. She has 13 years in public accounting concentrating in business, S-Corp, partnership, and individual tax consulting. She is a graduate of Purdue University and currently lives in the Goshen area.

Erin Richard - Erin returns to Kruggel, Lawton's Elkhart office as a full-time staff member after graduating from Eastern Mennonite University. Erin completed an internship with Kruggel, Lawton in the spring of 2007. She will work in both the tax and assurance services areas. She is a Goshen native and still lives in the community.

Jim Imes, CPA joined Kruggel, Lawton & Company as a manager. He is a graduate of Indiana University where he earned his B.S. in Business. Jim has over 15 years of experience assisting clients in the manufacturing, distribution, and wholesale industries. He has performed audit, review, and compilation engagements for companies with annual revenues ranging from $500,000 to $500,000,000. He specializes in business acquisitions and inventory costing and valuation. Jim will work in the South Bend office.

Andrea Skyrm joined Kruggel, Lawton & Company as a staff accountant in the Elkhart office. She recently completed her internship with Kruggel, Lawton and graduated from Eastern Mennonite University where she earned her degree in Accounting.

Sue Leda joined Kruggel, Lawton & Company as a processing administrator in the South Bend office. She is a graduate of St. Joseph High School and is a lifelong South Bend resident. She has 16 years of experience in sales and customer relations.

Laura (Lundeen) Frizzo joined Kruggel, Lawton & Company as a processing administrator in the Elkhart office. Frizzo is a graduate of Concord High School and has five years of experience in sales and customer service.
