On December 1, 2016, a new Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) rule will go into effect that could significantly impact employers’ responsibilities to provide overtime pay. The Final Rule updates regulations that define the right for executive, administrative, and professional employees to receive overtime pay. In many cases, the minimum salary required for these workers to qualify for exemptions has been more than doubled. As a result, it’s estimated that over four million workers will lose their exempt status, thereby potentially extending their right to overtime pay. Is your business ready?
